How to search - detailed instruction

BazTech can be searched in two main ways: Searching by specific terms

Some fields should be fulfilled by typing words, another ones by choosing the different criteria e.g. year of publication, type of publication, language. In form you can specify term for one or more record fields. Specifying more than one term results setting AND as default logical operator. If one enter several terms into fields such as "author name", "article title", "keywords" (or part of term without wildcard character) separating them by space, OR will be default logical operator. The field "Journal Title" one can fulfil exactly or approximately.
  1. Enter your search terms in one or more field and click the Search button.

  2. Boolean operators

    • multiple field searches are automatically combined with the AND operator; if you want to find documents with words from article title (AND), type in separate box in fields "Word(s) in title"
    • if you want to find documents with any of words form article title(OR), type a commas between them (in one field); comma means logical OR e.g. metal, zinc in field " Word(s) in title" will find articles with words metal or metals or zinc

  3. Phrase searching

    • database does not allow phrase searching in field "Word(s) in title". You can type only single term in one box. If you search phrase type one word in the first box and another words in the next box. They are automatically combined with the AND operator.
    • in fields "Keywords" and "Journal Title" you can type whole phrase using appropriate wild cards

  4. Wild cards

    • there are no special wild card symbols for one or more characters at the end of the word - that is enough to enter initial characters of the word (the root)
      • e.g. environ in field "Word(s) in title" will find: environment, environmental, environmental, in article titles
      • e.g. Control in field "Journal Title" will find table of contents of "Control and Cyberneticsi"
      • e.g. acceler in field "Keywords in English" will find articles with keywords (one or more) e.g. acceleration, acceleration of liners, accelerometers, accelerated solvent extraction
    • % means any sequence of characters at the beginning or end of words; useful in fields "keywords", e.g. %metal% will find metal clusters, metal ions, heavy metal, metal films, metallothermy in field "Journal Title".

    • in fields "Author", "Word(s) in title" can be used Polish or Latin characters
    • in other fields should be used Polish characters or _
