BazTech is a bibliographic and abstract database that has been registering articles from Polish journals in science and technology, selected topics in science and environmental protection. BazTech started in 1998 as a bibliographic database and nowdays it is developing towards a full-text citation database. Since 2005 references have been added to bibliographic descriptions and based on agreements with publishers full texts are also included. In this way the database has became part of the open science movement.

The aims of the database are:

• to provide a complete and free source of information on the content of Polish technical journals
• to promote Polish scientific and technical achievements
• to contribute to the development of the open science movement by sharing full-text publications
• to support interlibrary loans.

BazTech is one of the resources of the Virtual Library of Science and The Library of Science.
